Located 5-miles off GA/60 along the far southwestern border of Union County and the Coopers Creek Wilderness Area is a Forest Service Fish Hatchery. The hatchery produces approximately 850,000 rainbow trout annually for stocking local lakes and waterways.
Spawning operations are not a part of the fish hatchery, fertilized eggs are shipped to the hatchery for incubation and development before being released. The hatchery is a great site for kids and adult anglers alike.
Visitors can fish with a license along Rock Creek and Rock Creek Lake near the hatchery.
Nearby Frank Gross Campground, has 11 campsites for tents and trailers up to 22-feet available, plus drinking water, picnic tables and sanitary facilities.
